Drawing visitors for its mosaics and maps – and for the biblical Mount Nebo next door – Madaba is a city that is as gorgeous as it is surprising.
And with our Mount Nebo and Madaba day tour, you’ll see the classic sights for which the city’s known and much much more besides. You’ll pass through archaeological sites, historic bookshops, mosaic masterpieces, and the legendary resting place of Moses – all while exploring one of Jordan’s most fascinating cities.

Mount Nebo
Steeped in legend, Mount Nebo is one of Jordan’s most important historical sites: it’s the place where Moses first saw the Holy Land. On a clear day, you can see Jerusalem.

Madaba
With a short drive, we’ll be in the center of Madaba – this modest, ancient city – to start our walking tour.

Madaba Archaeological Park
Packed with ancient ruins, Madaba’s archaeological park is a wondrous open-air museum. Don’t miss the masterful mosaics of the Church of St Mary the Virgin.

St George’s Church
The church for which Madaba is most famous, St George’s houses the earliest known map of the Holy Land – in mosaic.

Kawon Bookshop
Madaba’s first bookshop is a social center and café too. We’ll stop to rest our legs – and browse books in over twenty languages.

Lunch
Enjoy a lunch at Kawon restaurant (vegetarian restaurant)

Church of John the Baptist
The church and its subterranean museum feature ancient mosaics and a functioning, three thousand-year-old well. The vertiginous bell-tower offers the city’s best views too.

After an action-packed day, put your feet up and we’ll drive you back to Amman.
